In 1988 while living in Germany, I had no way to put up antennas, so I settled for listening using active antennas and hidden wires. I recall everyday listening to a station from Spain his call was EA3OT, he used to say Echo Alpha Three Old Timer., the guy sounded like the BBC of London I was simply amazed by not only the quality but the way he spoke in a very calm, cool and collective manner. In 1993 I was able to move to another location and my experience with ESSB began. I have tried many microphones, radios, and processors but for the last 15 years I have kept the same equipment. I do hear some radios on the air that sound great, however I am one to believe that there is always room for improvement and that the sounds of tubes can not replicated by digital devices . Currently I use a Tentec Jupiter which is a sequel to the very first SDR from Tentec the Pegasus, I run my radio on Pegasus emulation mode and I have full access , using N4PY's software, to change just about anything that I want inside the radio, including the transmit bandwidth that can open to 8 Khz. I have used Electro Voice, Shure, Blue, Senheizer and other microphones, but the sound of the Heil PR-40 is in my opinion unsurpassed.
The microphone goes into a Bellari Microphone Tube Preamplifier, which I have modified changing the capacitors , operational pre amplifiers and I substituted the 12AX7 tubes for an GE 5751 Triple Mica Black, producing a very smooth sound that can not be compared to DSP processed audio. Right after that I use another six processors from Behringer to fine tune the output of my audio into the radio. I do use the Ibox, by Julius to match the line levels required and avoid RF feedback, works great. There were other that influernced me along the way as well, like Duke NA1A whom I have been talking to for many years about the subject, and there also of course the Voodo Audio Priesthood to whom I owe a great deal of knowledge. Above all I will always be thankful to Jimmy KP2BH and Rafy WP4D, for helping me adjust thru their ears and help me get to where I am am today audio wise. Everyday there are more people discovering the pleasant sound of ESSB, join us, you will have fun. Best 73!

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound.
